ABOUT US
The Buffalo River Review was founded in 1976, and has been in continuous weekly publication since April of that year.
A member of the Kennedy Newspaper family of community weeklies since 1994, the publisher is Sam Kennedy. Sister papers are the Lawrence County Advocate and The News Democrat in Waverly.
Sherri Groom, who joined the staff in 1990, is General Manager and in charge of day to day operations.
John Finney, who works at the Lawrence County office, is Vice President of the Review, and assists as production consultant.
Dr. Randy Mackin has been editor of the Review since 1982.
Ginger Edwards began employment with the newspaper in 2000; she is responsible for ad design and layout, and maintains the website.
Two other staffers round out the crew: Stacy Evans is a sales representative, and Sharon McKnight pulls double duty as sales rep and Review photographer.
Over the years the Review has received more than forty journalism honors, including five Meeman Foundation Awards for editorials—the most recent in 2007—and another Meeman for advertising. The Review won a National Newspaper Association award in 1996 for editorials.
The Buffalo River Review is a member of the Perry County Chamber of Commerce, Tennessee Press Association and National Newspaper Association.
